Leaning into sacred reading of all kinds, meditation/prayer apps, pleasure, rest/sitting my ass down.
how would you describe the work you feel called to do in this world (even if it is not the work you get paid for)?
To heal generational wounds by living authentically, resting, and facilitating spiritual, emotional & structural liberation in myself & others
knowing that none of us “has it all together,” what is one question you are wrestling with, or bit of wisdom you are struggling to enflesh in your daily life?
I wrestle always with how to live free within systems that were not historically meant for folks like me. I also question whether or not this is even possible. Yet, each day, I know that I at least have a little bit of untruth I can uncover + disrupt. Each day, I can build something new towards the world that I want. It’s an each day kind of thing.
who is one elder / ancestor / mentor whose guidance you draw from? what is one piece of wisdom they have offered?
Toni Morrison, who was adamant about not writing to the white gaze. She taught me the importance of being really clear about who and what you center (in her case, Black stories) and never apologizing for it.
what’s one oppressive untruth you are practicing unlearning / divesting from?
Spiritual work is about self-sacrifice, self-neglect, and doing work for free.
