The stars are strewn about the evening sky like a weighted blanket.
Consistent. Strong. Heavy.
And if we let ourselves pause for just a moment.
Just a pair of seconds as the elders say,
The rhythm of the universe will fill us,
Reminding us that we aren’t alone.
That we have never been alone.
And that. There’s no need for us to destroy one another. Hurt one another.
We can stay connected in our own tapestry.
And when we put away our last reminders of war,
We could say to each other:
“The stars are out tonight.”
