when our best is not enough

Perceiving: Let us Perceive together the pain our communities and other communities are facing. genocide, transphobia, ableism, climate disasters, mass deportation, racism(s) big and small, too many pains to count, yet they exist and mutate daily.

And. Let us weep if we must. Let the tears fall for the living and the dead. Those who have passed beyond without the answers that they desperately needed. Let us weep together as humans who share this great big world.

Pause in a moment of silence.

Together, let us hold our hands out if we can, or at our side… admitting that today it seems that no matter how much we can accomplish, it feels like our best isn’t enough for all of this. That no matter how much money we have, how much collective organizing we do, how many programs we institute, it doesn’t seem to make a dent in the evils we suffer. This is a ritual of lament.

And. together let us determine and affirm that no matter how much our best doesn’t seem to be enough…we will hold on to one another. We will hold on to love. We will hold on to beauty. We will hold on to collective care. Today we lament so tomorrow we can face another day.
