Liturgy that Matters – December 29, 2019 – Matthew 2:13-23
Themes: Herod, an insecure ruler, is threatened by the news of Jesus’ birth. Through a number of dreams, Joseph discerns the best way for him and his family to navigate the violence meant to end them. Meanwhile, thousands of innocent children were not so lucky. This week, we struggle with what it means to work for justice in a world where that will always come at a cost – sometimes even to innocent bystanders. How do we navigate the choices this leaves us with? Do we accept the losses and press on? Do we re-evaluate our efforts for change-making?
