Liturgy that Matters – January 9, 2022 – Isaiah 43:1-7

Themes: God promises the Israelites companionship “through the waters and the fires…” This issue explores this concept through the lens of Black liberation, bringing attention to the complications of talking divinity and nationalism, and touching on the influence of power and context when it comes to hearing and responding to self-expression perceived as violent.

This week’s sermon commentary is written by Casey Overton with liturgy by Rev. M Jade Kaiser.
