Liturgy that Matters – June 28, 2020 – Psalm 13

Themes: This short psalm of lament holds a lot within it. The psalmist’s feelings of being forgotten by God hold us accountable. When someone or someone(s) are enduring suffering and oppression, and we do nothing to be in solidarity, are we not denying the potential for God’s action? God takes on flesh through the willing. The psalmist’s cry demands our own reflection. In this pride month, who is showing up with and for trans women of color? How are we functioning as “the enemy” of justice when we are too afraid or otherwise unwilling to take the steps being asked of us? The ones bold enough to enact change that reaches to the edges of our communities?
