speak easy in the speakeasy

Historically, a speakeasy is a hidden, secretive bar that harkens all the way back to the Prohibition era. This hiddenness allowed for people to come together in an intimate, usually dimly-lit setting to take off the outside world and connect with one another. What would it look like to have a gathering of queer/trans/nonbinary folks committed to liberation, in an age where we can easily perceive the rise of white Christian nationalism, misogynoir, transphobia, and more? What would it be like to come into a safe, flesh-y place and receive one another openly? What factors would have to be in place to ensure that all are protected in this place?
