share your spiritual biography in 10 words, or less:
Black Queer Spiritualist raised in Black Pentecostal and Missionary Baptist churches.
where are you turning for soul nourishment / joy / aliveness?
My community – intimate conversations and a lot of play.
what is a text you hold sacred?
All About Love – by bell hooks
what is a spiritual practice currently sustaining you?
Vulnerability – when I show up vulnerable it makes room for others to do the same. Lives are changed when we can be vulnerable and open.
how would you describe the work you feel called to do in this world (even if it is not the work you get paid for)?
I feel called to be a public thought leader and community consciousness raiser. Ask the tough questions, make space for the uncomfortable answers.
knowing that none of us “has it all together,” what is one question you are wrestling with, or bit of wisdom you are struggling to enflesh in your daily life?
Remember that the love I give others is also needed for myself – from me to me, from my community, and from the universe.
who is one elder / ancestor / mentor whose guidance you draw from? what is one piece of wisdom they have offered?
My great-grandmother, Ruth Benbow. She always made space for people. Everyone was welcomed to come home.
what’s one oppressive untruth you are practicing unlearning / divesting from?
I don’t have to have it all figured out – not for myself and not for the world. Progress happens in community, not as an individual feat.
what is one thing you wish were required listening / viewing? (please link to the song, poem, art piece, podcast, etc.)
