Liturgy that Matters – April 11, 2021 – Acts 4:32-35

Themes: When it comes to community, the disciples embody a love that is not merely emotional, but necessarily material too. This movement of Christ followers is not born of abstract concepts but of shared commitments to living together according to a particular ethic: sharing what they have, bearing burdens, seeking collective well-being over not individualized gain. How different than what we witness in so many wealthy church contexts, so many communities of economic inequality,  and so many theories and theologies that reinforce capitalism and celebrate financial success at the expense of other values.

This week’s sermon commentaries are written by Casey Overton.
