Liturgy that Matters – April 5, 2020 – Matthew 21:1-11

Themes: On this Palm Sunday, we reflect on the difference between the empire’s “greatness” and the power of the people, we ponder what it means to repeat the ancient cry of the people “save us!” in our current context, and we discuss the importance of remembering that Christ is within us – not an outside force that will swoop in with deliverance. As Jesus’ public witness contrasts the empire’s processions that function as grandiose ego-trips, we are reminded of the power of humility and collective commitments for saving work.
