Liturgy that Matters – December 27, 2020 – Luke 2:22-40
Themes: The incarnation begins in gestation. In birth. In infancy. In childhood. Though the gospels move quickly to adulthood, we do well to linger in the impacts of this theological emphasis on the young – among us, and those still to come. This issue centers children in the life of the community. Who receives attention and support? Who is neglected? What projections are violently imposed on newborns? And how, in these strange and difficult times, can we creatively engage in intergenerational rituals that create bonds and connection across forced distance?
This week’s sermon commentaries are written by Minister Candace Simpson.
