Liturgy that Matters – January 30, 2022 – Luke 4:21-30
Themes: Delivering the good news of God’s liberation can be a precarious calling. Jesus’ fate, not unlike many other prophets, reveals the risks of practicing and declaring God’s strange wisdoms. In this text, we see the people responding to his message with with rage, attempting to drive Jesus right off a cliff. This issues invites reflection into how we each respond – individually and collectively – to prophets, their messages, and other de-valued sites of knowing and wisdom.
This week’s sermon commentaries are written by Eréndira Jimenez Esquinca with liturgy by Rev. M Barclay.
