Liturgy that Matters – July 26, 2020 – Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52

Themes: This week is all about the kindom – how we might perceive and enflesh it in the world around us. We consider the ways that Jesus offered helpful images that direct our attention to the world around us, not an abstract reality apart from us. The images offer multiplicity and contradiction. They remind us of the ordinary choices and opportunities that surround us. The kindom is always close, but it’s as easy to miss as the smallest seed.

We also consider the ways that Jesus’ examples can point us to life-giving approaches to transformation in the world that don’t depend on dominance or the capitalist ideas that the most popular or most “successful” are also the most loving or transformation means of change.
