Liturgy that Matters – June 7, 2020 – Genesis 1:1-2:4a

This week we remember what was once a central component of Christian art and theology – the garden as a place of return, a symbol of right-living, and a hope that lives among us. We wonder how this imagery, had it not been replaced by more dominance-centered symbols, might have shaped not only Christianity, but the world at large. We also linger in God’s call to appreciation of the world around us and the reminder of our created purpose – to be tenders and cultivators of life as well as resisters and mourners of all that threatens it.
