Liturgy that Matters – March 1, 2020 – Genesis 2:15-17; 3:1-7
Themes: On the first Sunday of Lent, we have a choice about how to tell the story of our beginnings. This image of a garden with natural abundance is a stark contrast to the imbalances of resources across the globe and the state of the earth itself. How did we get here? What does this story have to offer us today and is the concept of “original sin” and the “fall” what’s needed most or might a different – earlier approach – point us in a healthier individual and collective direction? Additionally, we consider questions of limitations, boundaries, and learning how to create what Adrienne Maree Brown calls “conditions of satisfaction.”
