Liturgy that Matters – November 17, 2019 – 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13

Themes: This text, under capitalism in the United States, is a dangerous one. In a world where billionaires profit on exploited labor of the working poor, where unemployment is shamed and overworking is idolized, we have many ways and reasons to preach against the modern use of this message. Listening for the Word of God from a different angle, we reflect on a God who feeds the hungry, encourages the weary, and calls us – not to service of capitalism – but to find our ways and places of contribution to collective flourishing.
