Liturgy that Matters – November 29, 2020 – Mark 13:24-37
Themes: When Jesus speaks to the coming destruction of the temple and the longing for a new era out from under the oppression of Rome, he doesn’t hold back on the inevitable suffering that time will entail. He also warns: in times of crises, there will be people who rise up as false prophets, deceiving and leading astray for their own profit. But to those who wish to discern the faithful way through, he reminds them – you know what to look for. Pay attention to the signs around you. Question those who rush too quickly towards claiming this is a season for healing, a season for unity, a season pointing towards a new day, when in fact the time for that has not yet come.
