Liturgy that Matters – November 7, 2021 – Hebrews 9:24-28
Themes: This issue asks, “how are contemporary atonement theories working on us today?” Exploitative systems benefit off of our internalized notions that we must pay in some form or fashion for our human imperfections. Meanwhile, the violence of oppressive systems and supremacist relational dynamics manage to skirt accountability. This, along with careful attention to this texts past and present relationship to antisemitism.
This week’s sermon commentaries are written by Nichola Torbett with liturgy by Rev. Molly Bolton.
