Liturgy that Matters – October 6, 2019 – 2 Timothy 1:1-14
Themes: encouragement, shamelessness, remembering, ancestors
This week’s LTM featuring 2 Timothy 1:1-14 asks how we manage the inevitable messages of shame that come with living faithfully and practicing resistance to majority rule as well as what it means to practice recognizing the alive-ness of God in one another. This letter, written from prison before execution, encourages the younger generation to remember, “God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline.”
