Liturgy that Matters – September 26, 2021 – Mark 9:38-50
Themes: Drinking in the richness of this text, this issue invites readers to grapple with the seriousness of Jesus words and the invitation they pose to us today. To read them as threats, what does that ask us to consider around his approach to violence or non-violence? To read them as a statement of facts, what warning does that offer about those who get in the way of the flourishing of others? This, alongside reflection on the stumbling blocks put before our children today and the “temporary ability” of our bodies.
This week’s sermon commentaries are written by Min. Candace Simpson with liturgy by Rev. Molly Bolton.
